who we are

Sovereign Media is a Nairobi-based socialist and anti-imperialist news outlet committed to strengthening the global anti-imperialist media ecosystem. We provide training, strategic media support, and social media expertise to help like-minded platforms amplify their reach and impact.

At the heart of Sovereign Media is a growing international network of journalists, editors, researchers, designers, and digital storytellers who share a commitment to truth, justice, and solidarity with those who are oppressed. From Nairobi to Caracas, Johannesburg to Gaza, our team is actively curating and producing high-quality, principled content that challenges imperialist narratives and exposes global systems of domination and exploitation.

This content—ranging from news reports and video explainers to social media graphics and strategic messaging kits—will be made accessible to our coalition partners worldwide.

Sovereign Media is building more than a media outlet. We are building an infrastructure of resistance. By connecting anti-imperialist media platforms and workers across borders and providing them with the necessary tools and support, we aim to foster a new wave of storytelling rooted in solidarity, truth, and liberation. Together, we will shape the narratives that imperialism fears most.

Our Coalition Partners

Sovereign Media is proud to work in solidarity with a growing coalition of principled, anti-imperialist media platforms from around the world. Our current coalition partners include:

  • Venezuelanalysis – Independent news and analysis from a revolutionary perspective on Venezuela and Latin America.
  • Qiao Collective A diaspora Chinese media collective challenging U.S. aggression and supporting a multipolar world.
  • Black Agenda Report A leading voice in radical Black analysis and commentary rooted in anti-imperialist tradition.
  • Kawsachun News – Latin American-based media providing on-the-ground reporting with a clear anti-imperialist lens.
  • Orinoco Tribune – A Venezuelan platform offering news and analysis on Bolivarian Venezuela and global resistance movements.
  • Naam – A grassroots African platform centring liberation struggles, decolonisation, and the fight for sovereignty across the continent.
  • Vox Ummah – A Muslim-led and run platform amplifying anti-imperialist Muslim voices worldwide, committed to justice, resistance, and solidarity across various struggles.

Together, we are building a media ecosystem rooted in truth, solidarity, and internationalism—amplifying the voices and struggles that mainstream media seeks to silence.

Our Purpose

Today, we are witnessing an all-out information war—waged by imperial powers and their mouthpieces in the mainstream media—designed to justify the subjugation and exploitation of the Global South.

Today, this war plays out in real time before our eyes: the most heinous crimes committed against children, journalists, aid workers, and even UN staff have been shamelessly justified by appeals to Israel’s so-called “right to self-defence.”

In this context, the world urgently needs journalists of conscience—those who speak truth to power and centre human suffering, whether in Palestine, Haiti or Congo. These journalists must be supported, trained, and equipped to navigate and dominate the digital battleground that is social media. This is the mission of Sovereign Media: to uplift the voices that imperialism seeks to silence, and to build a media ecosystem rooted in justice, dignity, and solidarity.

What We Cover!

We are in a global emergency. Imperialism is in deep crisis—and as it unravels, it is the working classes and peasants across the Global South who are paying the price.

At Sovereign Media, we focus on the absolute frontline: the stories of resistance, survival, and struggle often ignored or distorted by mainstream media. We centre the voices of those directly affected. Whether it’s the people of Mozambique being brutalised by the very police and military forces meant to protect them, or Cuban doctors who have selflessly travelled the globe to save lives, now punished by U.S. sanctions despite outcries from Caribbean and Global South governments that depend on their solidarity.

This is the work we do: grounded, principled, and unapologetically anti-imperialist. We reject the spectacle and instead choose to report on what matters—human dignity, popular struggle, and the urgent fight for justice in a collapsing world order.
